Our workshop
Historically based in Saumur since 1997, our workshop is where the entirety of our production takes place. Our saddlers are trained through the finest French programs and practice their craft with passion.
For the design of your tailor-made dressage saddle, we only use French high quality hight quality
Our leathers come from the finest tanneries that supply the leading luxury houses. Our saddles are crafted from calfskin leather a noble material that is both durable and supple. The cutting and assembly of the different parts of your saddle are carried out by our master saddlers in our workshop.
For the design of our saddle trees, we work with Arçonnerie Française, based in Villemur-sur-Tarn near Toulouse. Our saddle trees are made from wood and steel.
Our responsibility: in order to adopt an sustaineble approach, we participate in the recycling of the scraps of our raw materials.

Custom-made craftsmanship guarantees that the client receives a saddle strictly identical to the one designed and validated during the fitting.
Whether the rider is a beginner or an international Grand Prix competitor, everyone fully benefits from true custom craftsmanship. The beginner will find equipment that, through proper positioning, helps build correct foundations and good habits. The experienced rider will find, in the precision of the adjustments, the subtle details that make the difference at the highest level.
No two Aulion Sellier saddles are alike. Each saddle is unique and individually numbered, crafted for a specific horse-and-rider partnership..
All Aulion Sellier saddles are monoflap. A single layer of leather between the rider’s thigh and the horse ensures optimal close contact.
The seat of the saddles is generally deep-seatedwhich provides the rider with sufficient support secure without restricting. The advantage of our 100% custom-made approach is that the depth of the seat can be adjusted according to the rider’s needs: standard, more pronounced, forward, or rear-positioned.
We manufacture saddles with or without flap according to the rider’s specific needs. It is during the postural assessment that decisions are made regarding the presence or absence of knee blocks, as well as their shape, height, position, and angle
The V-billeting system It helps keep the saddle properly positioned behind the shoulder and stable on the horse’s back.
Our panels (padding) are made from three materials: wool felt and two types of foam with different densities. This choice is based on the foam’s resilience, durability, and hypoallergenic properties. Thanks to its technical qualities, foam, unlike wool, does not require the panels to be reflocked several times a year. Furthermore, comparative tests conducted using an electronic pressure-mapping pad have demonstrated improved comfort for the horse’s back with foam panels.
We chose beech wood for the saddle tree because it is flexible, lightweight, and durable — and because it can be adjusted to accommodate changes in the horse’s conformation over time.

At Aulion Sellier, the horse’s well-being, the rider’s comfort, and their performance are our top priorities.
From the very first stage of preparation, the saddle carries the rider’s name not a serial number. All the components are carefully stored in a drawer labeled with the rider’s name. There is no “Saddle 2035 03 50” in our workshop it is always “Juliette’s saddle.”
At Aulion Sellier, our philosophy is to provide the right and most appropriate solution through close collaboration with each rider.
For over 25 years, we have worked alongside riders with them and for them. The experience and craftsmanship of our master saddlers enhance the relationship between rider and horse, creating a harmony that promotes their well-being.
We believe that the saddle should serve the discipline of dressage, whose ultimate purpose is to showcase the horse. That is why we design our saddles with clean lines, refined curves, and understated, minimalist customization.
